Am I still eligible for membership in Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. if I belong to another Greek-letter organization?”

A.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc does not allow membership into the sorority if you are a member of the following organizations:  National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC), or the Mulit-Cultural Greek Council.  If you are a member of any other organization outside of those listed you are welcome to apply for membership.

I don’t have a college degree. Can I still join your chapter?

A.

Sigma Gamma Rho believes in promoting, empowering, and bonding of women regardless of whether they have a college degree.  Through our affiliate group called Philo (meaning friend), these women work closely with the alumnae chapters in improving the quality of life in the communities.

Is there an opportunity to work with young people?

Embracing, educating, and developing  our youth is what makes for a leader for tomorrow.

Does your sorority provide professional training?

A.

Through various meetings, workshops, and regional and national conferences, Sigma Gamma Rho provides an array of training for the personnel enhancement and career/professional development of our members.

Some benefits include:

Sisterhood - Although we come from all backgrounds of life being a part of a sisterhood is a extension of your family.  Although there is a uniqueness in everyone, each individual has something special to offer.  There is a lifelong friendship that occurs.  Having someone you can depend on that has your best interest at heart is a special bond that is unbreakable.  Being a part of a sisterhood encourages and allows for the empowerment of each individual to excel  and achieve their personal best as well as providing a atmosphere that allows for professional growth and networking.

Leadership - Building and enhancing personal growth through  scholarships, leadership development programs, and community service is what the sorority promotes.   Having the ability to make a significant  change that impacts our community is what will help our communities prosper and grow.

Community Service  - "Great Service, Greater Progress".  Sigma Gamma Rho believes in the importance in community service.   Through our various national programs such at Operation BigBookBag and Project Reassurance that impact our community locally to Project Africa and Project Mwanamugimu which impact the community on a global scale, Sigma Gamma Rho is committed to making a change world wide.

How do I let the ladies of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. know that I am interested in joining?

SIMPLE — SHOW UP! This is the single best way for you to let us know that you’re genuinely interested. Look for flyers, posters, and other media about our programs and functions. Do not attend the social events only — volunteer at our service projects, too! We notice who comes to what, and when.
